Resurrected Blog

In order to create some order of what will undoubtedly be a chaos of knowledge and rubbish (hopefully more knowledge than rubbish) in the next few years of doctoral work, I’ve decided to blog again.

Blogging again is an application of good advice #4 that I got from Carl DiSalvo a few months back.

His advice came in four points:

  1. Commit to a good reading/note-taking system. A lot of good insights get lost in the margins of books.
  2. Go on a date with wife at least once a month since a Ph.D. is going to be all consuming. Make it a ritual. (I have since brought this up with the wife and she says once a month won’t do – must be at least once a week).
  3. Try to find a way to work in some practical work into Ph.D. (i.e. consulting)
  4. Get into the habit of writing – almost daily – at least 30 min/day.

How do I feel as I get ready to start school again in a week?
This image that is still the hero image for CMU | School of Design’s graduate program represents the way I feel. Pretty excited to be going back to school.
